A Trip To The Auckland Zoo
Thursday was a very exciting day because room 5 visited the Auckland Zoo.
We were all separated into groups and took a look at all the animals scattered
around the Zoo. I was in May’s group, I felt really excited!

The first thing we saw was the red pandas, they were sleeping in the trees.
Next we went to go see the tigers but they weren't around so we just went to
see the next animal. Then we went to see the meerkats, they have big ears.

After looking at some animals we went back to where we were supposed to
meet. A Zookeeper at the Zoo showed us some of the animals. His name
was Hohepa, and he works at the Zoo. Hohepa took us to see the baboons.
The baboons had pink bottoms, it was really weird and a little funny.
Next we went to see the cheetahs. Cheetahs can run 100 km per hour.
It was insane and they only live up to 12 years old. They can't do cross country
because after 30 seconds they will get really tired. Then we went to see the
elephants. Elephants have big ears to hear predators from far away.
They also throw bark on their back because little bugs go on them.
Finally when Hohepa was done showing us some other kind of animals we
said goodbye and went to eat lunch.

Lastly our group went to see the giraffes, zebras, and the rhino.
Giraffes have blue tongues so they don’t get burnt and they stand when they
sleep and give birth. They sleep standing up because if they lay down it will
take too long to get back up and predators will attack them. Rhinos have 2
sharp horns the rhino looked really big.
